Title: Capturing the flow structure beneath rotational waves

Abstract: I will address the problem of capturing the flow structure beneath rotational water waves in the presence of a sheared current of constant vorticity. The investigation is performed numerically using ingredients of 2D potential theory.  We first consider traveling rotational waves and the respective regimes with stagnation points in the submarine phase portrait. We also considered pressure anomalies. I will also present a very recent work in which we consider non-stationary rotational waves over a bottom topography. The main goal is to study the persistence of the Kelvin cat eye structure under forcing. The work is in collaboration with Roberto Ribeiro-Jr (Federal University of Paraná), Marcelo Flamarion (Federal Rural University of Pernambuco), and Paul Milewski (University of Bath).
